We’ve been playing our own little game of ‘Catch Me If You Can’, and if your a Leo Dicaprio fan, you will have a bit of an idea of what we’ve been talking about. There was no escaping our camera lens and local information network.

Even Leo has been putting his hand over his mouth and chin from time to time, in order to try to protect his identity and keep the mystique.

The local film site was the former abandoned White Bay Power Station at Rozelle. Main attractions are Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, but we’re also been happy to spy on Joel and director, Baz Luhrmann too.

‘Spot the celeb’ is our little game we play, and the other, ‘snap the celeb’, while the others we can’t get into detail on, but it’s a bit of ‘Catch Me If You Can’.

It’s all set in the 1920s, and the costumes and cars are magnificent.

We call it ‘AussieWood’, rather than Hollywood, and we’re hoping Leo and friends spend a bit more time down under before they head back to the U.S. A little birdie told us something about ‘Blue Mountains’, but that’s just a rumour ok.

It’s been a big week in Australia for celeb hunters with Gatsby in Sydney, Kim Kardashian doing a quickly in Australia, Val Kilmer doing Brisbane and Melbourne for a comic fest, Warnie and Liz doing the Cup in Melbourne, and Tiger Woods doing Perth.

Gatsby director Luhrmann has been doing lots of evening film scenes at the freaky place known as the Valley of the Ashes.

Wilson’s garage is a hive of activity, where Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton) frequents his mistress, Myrtle Wilson (Isla Fisher). Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio) is up for Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan), and we think a few of the extras might be going at it also.

Be looking out of swags of classics cars, at least one of which is understood to get involved in massive accident towards the end of the movie.

Some other film scenes have been shot at Fox Studios, Moore Park, where buildings from 1920s New York have been recreated.

Budget is in the region of 0 million, but we heard its almost certain to go over budget.

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s, writer of the famous novel would be proud.

We hear Luhrmann will return to Fox Studios, Moore Park. There’s also a rumour of a Gatsby’s Castle scene to be shot at St Patrick’s College in Manly, and then there’s the Blue Mountains shooting tip off.

Gatsby is expected to open by Christmas next year, but in the meantime we’re enjoying seeing Leo and friends do their thing close up, likely closer than Baz would have preferred, but that’s show business.

Mount Olive IL – First National Bank of Mount Oliver (10 of 12)

Across from Immanuel Lutheran Church, on the SW corner of E. Main and S. Plum Sts. is the old First National Bank of Mount Olive. Today a tea room occupies at least part of the space.

Mount Olive is a city in Macoupin County. It is located about fifty miles south of Springfield, and about forty miles northeast of St. Louis on I-55. Mount Olive lies along Historic U.S. Route 66. The population was 2,150 at the 2000 census.

Central Illinois (except Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield.) Every city and town I’ve photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "counrtyside") photographs are grouped by county.

Springfield, Illinois: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds (and past State Fairs), and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

Beyond Central Illinois: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

Automobile Photograph Collection: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Barbers & Barber Shops: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.

Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!: Included topics range from man’s first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.

First National Bank Building, Stephenville, Texas Historical Marker

Built in 1889 to house the city’s first bank, this is the earliest of three structures on the town square designed by prominent San Antonio architect J. Riely Gordon. It features elaborate stonework and large arches typical of Romanesque Revival architecture and a Queen Anne style tower and pedimented entrance. The bank, organized by C. J. Shapard and with assets in excess of 8,000 by 1893, merged with Farmers National Bank in 1925 due to depressed oil and cattle prices. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark – 1994

First of America

This was a First of America bank branch until the early 1990s, closing well before National City Bank (now PNC) aquired that company. I remember it sitting empty for a very long time before a car dealer opened up there. US-23, south of Standish.

Queen Alexandra ordered a miniature Cadillac car for Crown Prince Olav (later King) of Norway and – never ones to miss an advertising opportunity – the manufacturers arranged the filming of the car’s departure from the factory, where it is waved out by an enthusiastic male crowd. This mini marvel continues its jubilant journey through the streets of London – past the Bank of England, around Trafalgar Square and on to Hyde Park. As crowds cheer and leap in front of the camera, desperate to be preserved on film, the driver’s composure and deadpan facial expression remains one of the most entertaining aspects of this Edwardian glimpse of British pride. The film ends with some charming footage of a tea party, in which three children run into trouble with the law for speeding!
